I actually looked up the text of 'Cross my heart' to make sure I got the full thing in this scene. :)

Note: If you want to get a sneak peak at the Genesis 3 version of Abby (which won't appear until issue 5), I will be starting to post comparison shots in the TWC vote incentive pages.

I'm pretty sure that there are at least a million variations on the Cross my heart promise.

I noticed in the G3 version the brows look different on the new one. And the lips look darker. Also the skin tone is off.. Anyway other than those things - its looking good.. Im doing the same thing to Minx .. so. I know your pain. :D

Yes, it is a totally different character. The skin cannot be (easily or nicely) transferred to G3 from G2, and it would not be desirable anyway, as the whole point of the process is to use the higher end, native iRay skins. So the skin tone is a little darker, but it is also much richer and higher def (it is truly a beautiful skin in terms of modeling, one of the best I have ever seen). The shape is also not the original. I tried using Gen X to transfer the shape and it worked great for the DaVinci pose, but it screwed up the posing for anything else (for example, making a fist did not work AT ALL -- critical for a superhero who punches things). So in the end I went with a pure G3 figure. This one is a mix of Octavia HD (teen variant) and Indigo.

With the goggles on (which I have also re-surfaced as you will see in future weeks), she still looks like Liberty Lass, but you're right, it is not identical. It is not intended to be. If it were, I would have just kept the old model.

The hair for G2 cannot be used either, so her secret ID hair had to be upgraded (but I did that in issue 4 already since it is a G2 and G3 model), and her sporty braid had to be ditched, but the new hair is much better looking.

So anyway... hopefully she will still feel like Abby but it is definitely a new character model. Much like when a new artist with a different style comes onto a book and draws characters differently (see for reference, the difference between Liam Sharp and Nicola Scott in the current run of Wonder Woman).

This is just a thought...What if we set up a TV Tropes page for Liberty Lass? Could bring some more people in.
Steven-Vincent 3rd Dec 2016, 9:04 AM edit delete reply
I'm not a big fan of that site, actually. I mean.. I guess I wouldn't mind if someone wanted to do it, but I think a lot of what they call tropes aren't tropes, and they 'reach' a LOT with what they say is and is not part of a given trope.

At its heart TV Tropes, as a website, is implicitly reductionist, and as a general rule I don't like reductionism.

Send Batman after him. Batmam will put him in his place quickly lol.
No but jokes aside. This is awesome man.

Batman even has his own breakfast cereal. I didn't buy it because I'm afraid I'll go crazy and start jumping off buildings and fall and splat myself on the pavement. :O ;)

Well now that gives me an idea... I might try making a mock-up of a box of Liberty Lass Flakes or something... ;)

For the hard of understanding (like me), where ARE the "TWC vote incentive pages"?
Steven-Vincent 11th Dec 2016, 5:52 PM edit delete reply
If you click on the 'vote tally' button just underneath each page of artwork (Under the first, previous, next, last, save my place, load my place' items on this page) you will go to the vote page for LL. If you vote for the LL comic then you will see some artwork -- right now, it is an example of the original vs. new Abby models. Currently I believe it is them with the secret ID hair. The next one will be with the hero ID ponytail (not braid -- there is no equivalent of the sporty braid for G3F, and converting G2F makes the braid lose all its controlling bones, which makes it unusable).
